Fabrications gets Re - Fabricated

In November 2006 after 6 1/2 yrs of changing times in Broadway Market, Fabrications was treated to an eco friendly make over. The makeover was conceived by owner and designer Barley Massey and recent graduate Kristina Allison (now completing her MA), with assistance from social enterprise Green Works (fixtures and fittings made from old office furniture) Inspired Recycling Programme (business support) Jawa and Midwich (new branding and graphics) Ryan Frank (design and fabrication of 'Hackney Shelving' counter and display boxes) during surgery.
The new improved Fabrications was transformed from a gallery type space into a mini department store of creativity and delights. Currently offering 4 departments:
  • A consultancy, design and items made to order service
  • Unique, handcrafted products and homewares, locally sourced and eco friendly
  • Hackney gifts and cards by Hackney's talent
  • 'The Hagedashery' - knitting + sewing supplies and classes

We had a lovely re launch party to coincide with the Hidden Art open studios. There was lots of knitting action as party comers were encouraged to knit miniature hats for Innocent smoothies Age Concern campaign. Innocent generously sponsored their delicious fruit smoothies as part of the evenings refreshments.

We hope you like the new look Fabrications. Our aim is to inspire, enhance and demonstrate art and designs potential for positive, social and environmental change.
